It’s time to dive into another season at the Runaway Anchor! This time around we are offering up a bunch of different Spirit bases (you might have noticed we’ve been doing one base spirit per menu since last Spring…). For the cold and dark months ahead, you’ve got lots of options to suit many tastes.
Tequila show up twice! First in the awesome tiki inspired Jack Frost and again in the oh so delicious Spiced Cranberry Margarita (a hit from this past Thanksgiving). You’ll need Rum for the Palmetto, a nice spin on the Manhattan, and the aptly named, Winter Cocktail. For this drink you will need a bottle of Ginger Liqueur. We are sure to share more cocktails using this bottle, so don’t worry about getting use out of it beyond the first option. We can’t skip Gin, but to make the Alaska you will need Yellow Chartreuse. There are imitators to be found at liquor stores of this hard to find liqueur. The St. Charles Punch uses Port has the base, and it is a fun way to re-imagine the classic Sidecar. Finally we can’t have such a diverse menu without Whiskey! The Lion’s Tail is a wild drink, mixing tiki elements with the classic old fashioned. Definitely worth a sip or three!
Our Runaway Godfather, Anders Erickson, has a new original created for the holidays 2024. The Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Cocktail is another drink tipping it’s hat to tiki. Make sure to either make your own Grenadine or buy some of Ander’s version from Portland Syrups.
Lastly, our mocktail this month is a hot chocolate, we’re calling Judy’s 1200 Year Old Hot Chocolate. But beware, this one is the thickest, sweetest drink you’ve ever tasted. Inspired by Judy the Elf in the movie, “The Santa Clause” this drink takes some work, but it’s worth it. Just make sure to serve it in small cups with many friends to share it!!
We hope you have a good Winter, and enjoy many tasty drinks with friends to get you through the cold.
Cheers!
